2022 is the year to consider starting a blog if you haven’t already done so. Blogs account for more than a third of all websites, and 68.52% of bloggers agree that blogs help to add credibility to a website. These statistics make starting and managing a blog worthy of your time and investment. Here are five tips to help you get started with your blog in 2022:

Tip #1- Start by selecting blog topics: Look at the year ahead and choose blog topics that coincide with your business goals. If you plan to promote a specific service or feature you offer, brainstorm a list of topics that complement your business initiative. This way, your blog posts will seamlessly integrate with the rest of your marketing efforts.

Tip #2- Outsource writing talent: Sourcing writers don’t have to be complicated. Look first internally to use your teams’ talent or outsource a contract copywriter or content marketing agency. The benefit of having blogs written internally is that the writer is already familiar with your services and company. A copywriter or agency can still produce excellent content but may require more participation on your part to get them up to speed.

Tip #3- Create a content calendar: It’s essential to stay organized so you don’t end up posting three blogs in one month and 0 in another. Calendar tools like TeamUp are a free and simple way to stay on top of articles and visually see what’s coming up. A content calendar helps not repeat topics or authors.

Tip #4- Review your blogs for cohesiveness and branding: All of the content your company produces must have a cohesive look and feel. When people see your blogs, social posts, emails, etc., you want them to think of your company immediately. Make sure your blog posts are:

  • Written in a similar tone
  • Organized in a familiar format
  • Feature similar (not clashing) photos or imagery
  • Attributed to an internal employee as the author to create a sense of familiarity

Tip #5- Promote your blog through email and social media: Once your blog is up on your website, it’s time to make sure people see your creative work. Consider promoting your blog articles through email marketing and your social media pages. Feature a short blurb from the blog post, the corresponding image, and a link to the article on your website. Promoting the blog by linking it back to your website helps increase website traffic and SEO.
